After the civil war Mr. Davis went to Cedar Falls where he was married to Euretta Roselthey O'Dell on October 9th, 1865. The two lived in Cedar Falls for a time then went to Waterloo and later Iowa Falls. In 1881 they went to Ackley. Eight children were born. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren are living.

Charles Hooper, his nephew, holds in his possession the buckle which he wore on his belt through the war. He prizes the buckle very much.
