Robert Papenfuss, Forbes, N.D.

Robert H Papenfuss, 91 of Forbes, N.D., died of complications of a stroke Friday at SCCI Hospital in Mandan, N.D. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eldora, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard.

Mr. Papenfuss was born in Winona County, Minn., and had lived in the Hubbard and Eldora areas most of his life before moving to Forbes three year ago. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by a daughter Joan Broer of Lakeville, Minn.; three grandchildren, including Holli Jo Kronberg of Forbes, with whom he had lived the past three years, and seven great-grandchildren.

Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard is handling arrangements.

Robert H. Papenfuss was born on May 18th, 1910 in Winona County, Minnesota. He was one of nine children born to Frederick and Caroline (Goschke) Papenfuss.

He received his education in rural school in Winona County, Minnesota. He ventured to Iowa from Minnesota in 1927.

On February 8, 1930 Robert was united in marriage to Minnie Brandt in Charles City, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed the Janes farm east of Hubbard. They lived different places before they bought the Paul Sievert farm in 1946. They farmed this place until they retired to Eldora in 1965.

Robert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora.

Death came to Robert on July 20, 2001 at S.C.C.I. Hospital in Mandan, North Dakota. Before his death, he had spent the last three years living with his granddaugher Hollie Jo and her husband Carl Kronber and his three great grandchildre, Jessinda (12), Roberta (7) and Gus (4) in Forbes, North Dakota.

Those thankful for having shared his life include one daughter Joan Broer of Lakeville, Minnesota. Three grandchildren and seven great grandchildre and other relatives and friends.
