Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden with the Rev. Jay Jaeger officiating for Hazel Lettow, age 94, who passed away Monday, June 11, 2001 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora.

Burial following in the Alden Township Cemetery. Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on August 22, 1906 in Eldora, the daughter of William and Anna "Kuhfus" Ziesman. She attended rural country schools and graduated from the Eldora High School in 1924.

On October 12, 1932, she was united in marriage to Herbert John Lettow of Buckeye. They had three children. She had been a secretary with the Hardin County Farm Bureau and previously had been a secretary with the Anderle Furniture and Funeral Home in Eldora.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden and a previous member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Buckeye, where she had taught Sunday school and was a past Sunday School Superintendent. She also held several offices in the Ladies Aid throughout the years. She was a member of the Alden, Iowa Senior Citizens and was a longtime member of the Alden Cemetery Association.

She is survived by her son, James (Joy) of Alden; two daughters, Connie (Kenneth) Wagner of Eldora and Lois Kapfer of Ames; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one sister, Helen Cable of Eldora.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, Richard Kapfer; and two sisters, Vadna Eggleston and Lois Vierkandt.
