I have been researching in Hancock Co., Iowa and was curious if maybe someone could help me out. I am researching for my gg-grandparents (William W. and Margaret (maiden name unknown) Wright and their son, William Wright my g-grandfather. They, Wm W. and Margaret Wright moved to Britt Hancock Co., Iowa from Fredricktown, Knox Co., Ohio sometime between the 1870 and 1880 Federal Censuses. They are listed in the 1880 Britt, Hancock Co., Iowa Census on page 308C Supervisor District 4 Enumeration District 111, Dwelling 53, Family 68. I found William W. and Margaret Wright family listed in the 1885 Hancock Co., Iowa State Census for the Township of Britt Incorporated, T.P. Lot 10, Range B2, Section Auds Addition, Subdivision Britt compiled by census taker H.P. Larens as Dwelling 85 Family 92 William W. Wright residence B31, Auds Addition, 68 years male married retired farmer NY. His father is listed as natural born citizen. His mother is listed as foreign born. Margaret Wright wife residence same 60 years female married PA, Shannon Wright son 23 male single OH David R. Wright son male single OH Effie Wright daughter 18 years female single OH twin Emma Wright daughter 18 years female single OH twin Charles Wright son 17 years male OH. Since the 1890 Federal Census was destroyed, I researched the 1895 Hancock Co., Iowa State Census but this family is no longer listed. I imagine that William and Margaret Wright passed away during this time frame.
I am curious if someone would have any means to see if there is a death record that might tell when they died? I am also very curious if in fact there is a death record if it would tell me the maiden name of Margaret. Their son, William, is listed in the 1880 Hancock Co., Iowa Federal Census but not in the 1885 State Census. If someone happened to come across anything on this son William I would appreciate immensely since he seems to disappear from the records. A list of William W. and Margaret Wright children are as following: Lester, Joseph H., Mary E., John T., Hannah, George Terry, William, Andrew, Shannon K.,David R., Emma May, Effa, and Charles W. Wright.
If someone could provide any help how I would truly appreciate. I have tried to send this query to the site coordinator, Letty Hurlburt (lettyhurlburt@hotmail.com ), to volunteer researcher Nancie L. Dobyns (treebines@mchsi.com ) and to Naomi Lacey (nomey333@hotmail.com ) who was listed in the Query section of the IAGENWEB PROJECT researching the same family. All three of these emails came back stating transmission and mailbox currently suspended.
