Goodell - Funeral services for Mrs. A. C. Carpenter, 83, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Goodell Evangelical United Brethren Church. The Rev. Forest Lay will officiate. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery with Johnston Funeral Home of Belmond in charge.

Maude Emma Griggs, daughter of John and Emily Griggs, was born at Ackley. The family came to Goodell in 1885. She was a rural school teacher many years and in 1924 was married to A. C. Carpenter. She was a member of the EUB Church and was president of the Ladies Aid eight years.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. J. S. Cook, Goodell; six step children, Mrs. Albert Schlichting, Ventura; Harry Carpenter, Lake Wells, Fla.; Lloyd Carpenter, Goodell; Mrs. James Trees, Belmond; Alfred Carpenter, San Diego, Calif.; Richard Carpenter, Sepulveda, Calif. Her husband, a sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
