Melvin W. Brown

Britt - Melvin W. Brown, 76, died Friday at Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Britt, preceded by a prayer service for the family at Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Segerstrom will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The son of John and Rose Wallace Brown, he was born March 18, 1893, at Houston, Mo. He was married to Anna E. Brooks Jan. 1, 1914. They came to the Britt area a year later and had farmed here ever since. Mrs. Brown died in 1960.

Surviving are three sons, Edwin, Crystal Lake; Kenneth, Britt; Merle, Forest City; four daughters, Blanche, Verle and Velma, all of Garner; Mrs. Albert (Marlene) Oudekirk, Rockwell; 15 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Etta McKinney and Mrs. Elmer Haney, both of Houston. He was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters and a brother.
