Catherine Hiscocks, 1937-2005

Catherine "Kay" Hiscocks, 67, died on Sunday, January 9, 2005, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, January 12, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt. The Rev. Michael Schuller and the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiated. Irene Raber and Becky McCormick were lectors. Music was provided by organist, Brenda Smith who accompanied song leader, Darla Yeakel and flute soloist, Barbara Brcka. Allan Doughan and Roger Jacobson ushered.

Honorary casket bearers were Jeffrey Haan and Ted Smith. Casket bearers were Monte Bill Hiscocks, Michael Hiscocks, David Hiscocks, Lisa Loecher and Carmen Jamtgaard. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. The Ewing-Dugger Funeral Home of Britt was in charge of the arrangements.

Catherine Elizabeth Hiscocks, was born on May 1, 1937 in Duncan. She was the daughter of William J. and Blanche B. (Kopacek) Paca. She attended the Garner High School where she majored in office training. She was employed at Maben Insurance her senior year for on the job training and after graduating in 1955 started working at the First State Bank in Britt.

She married Monte B. Hiscocks on April 22, 1958, at the St. Wenceslaus Church in Duncan. They lived and worked on a farm South of Britt. She was a 60-year member of the Catholic Workman and was a very active member of St. Patrick's Church in Britt.

Kay loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed Thursday morning coffee clatch, her card club groups and outings with friends. Kay lived her life with a strong faith, genuine kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness for others.

Survivors include her children, Monte William of Britt, Michael and his wife, Elisabeth (Lisa) of Plano, Texas, David and his wife, Hanah of Katy, Texas, Lisa Loecher and her husband, Ron of Cedar Falls and Carmen Jamtgaard and her husband, Mark of Britt; eight grandchildren, Cory, Zachary and Emma Hiscocks, Ty Hiscocks, Isaac, Luke and Cael Loecher and Katherine Jamtgaard.

Also surviving are her mother, Blanche Paca of Britt; four sisters, Marjorie Hansen and her husband, Ronald of Britt, Irene Raber and her husband, Jan of Kanawha, Rita Haan and her husband, Ralph of Richmond, Minnesota and Becky McCormick and her husband, Paul of Rollingstone, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte; and her father, William.
