Services for Lorris (Lorry) Swanson, 37, Britt, who died Saturday, Oct. 28, 1989 at University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with Dr. Aubrey McGann, Rev. Bob Nieuwendorp and Pastor Wade Barnard officiating.

Music was provided by soloist, Ritch Trca, who was accompanied by organist, Jane Anderson; and soloist, Brenda Smith, who was accompanied by Melanie Mitchell. Ushers were Harold Kahlstorf, Kelly Kiefer, Scott Larson, Jerry Malek and Tim Miller.

Honorary casket bearers were Cletus Hejlik, Gale McNeese, Verlin Ball, Ray Neswold, Bill Price and Carl Kuch.

Active bearers were Joel Albertson, Wayne Eenhuis, Vance Johnson, Ron Putzstuck, Wayne Venzke and Ron Hagen.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lorris (Lorry) Swanson, the son of Alvin and Gertrude Harle Swanson, was born September 8, 1952. He graduated from Britt High School in 1970 and attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City and also the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

During 1975 he was married to Marilyn Trca in Britt. For the past 15 years he had been employed as an accountant for Winnebago Industries, Inc. in Forest City.

Lorris was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Britt where he served as an elder and was a Sunday school teacher. He was an AWANA leader and taught Bible school discipleship.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Britt; one daughter, Nataly; two sons, Nathan and Noah, all at home; three sisters, Jill and her husband, Ken Jensen, Jan and her husband, Erv Nelson, Judy and her husband, Larry Myer; one brother, Paul and his wife, Connie Swanson; his step father, Raymond Barnes; three step sisters, Sandra Armstrong, Diane and her husband, Skip Nevill, Twyla and her husband, Mark Tindall; and one step brother, Dennis Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin, who died May of 1968; and his mother, Gertrude, who died March of 1989.
