Mrs. Pinkerton dies at Britt
BRITT - Funeral services were held Thursday at the Methodist Church here for Mrs. Martha Mary Pinkerton, 85. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Warren Paige, was in charge of the services.
Martha Mary Pinkerton, who was born at Loftus Lincolnshire, England March 12, 1874, died Tuesday at the hospital in Britt.
She came to America in 1877 with her parents. In 1880 the family came to Green County, Iowa, and in 1884 to a farm south of Britt.
In October, 1894, she was married to John Pinkerton at Goodell. They established their home on a farm just south of Britt. Mr. Pinkerton died in 1952.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Beatrice) Burgardt, San Gabriel, Calif., and Mrs. Howard (Vera) Johnson, Barrington, R. I.; five brothers, The Rev. Fred Howlett, Chico, Calif.; Bart, Charles and John Howlett, all of Kanawha, and Harold Howlett, Cedar Falls.
