Powers Funeral Rites Held in Crystal Lake
CRYSTAL LAKE - Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church for Charles C. Powers, who died Tuesday at his home here after a long illness. The Rev. Miriam Hotchkiss officiated.
Mr. Powers, youngest son of Charles and Martha Powers, was born July 22, 1870, in Boone county, Illinois. He was married to Harriet Shattuck in 1894. Three sons and one daughter were born to this union. The daughter, Mrs. Will Taylor, preceded him in death in 1934. The family moved from Illinois in 1913 to Forest City where they lived until 1919, when they moved to Crystal Lake.
Mr. Powers had been in the dray business for a number of years here until his health failed. He was a member of the official board of the Methodist church here and a member of the town council for several years.
Those surviving are his widow and three sons, Leon Powers of Osceola, Glen Powers, Burbank, Cal., and Maynard Powers of Crystal Lake.
Burial was made in Crystal cemetery.
