'Moose' Hanson, Clear Lake, dies

CLEAR LAKE: E. L. "Moose" Hanson, 64, of P.M. Park Clear Lake, the owner and president of Hanson Marine Inc. here, died Wednesday (Jan. 11, 1984) at a Rochester, Minn., hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. Mark Doebel and Linda Burkgren will officiate and burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born Sept. 1, 1919, in Garner, he was the son of James and Martha (Nelson) Hanson. He attended schools in Garner and married Dorothy M. Carter on Jan. 2, 1941, in Garner.

He moved to Clear Lake in 1949 and was self employed in several construction related businesses. For many years he was employed by the Bill Walker Construction Co., Clear Lake.

In 1960 he began Hanson Marine Inc., and had served as owner and president since that time. He semi-retired from the business in 1978 and made his home in Clear Lake and in Backus, Minn.

He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include his former wife, Dorothy Rogers, Clear Lake; two sons, James C. Hanson, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jon L. Hanson, Clear Lake; six grandchildren; one brother, James "Clay" Hanson, Clear Lake; one niece and two nephews.
