Mrs William Hampel Services Held
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, for Mrs. William J. (Bessie) Hampel, 85, who died March 12, at Oakwood Manor, Clear Lake.
The Rev. Kenneth Ubbelohde, pastor of The Congregational Church, officiated at the services which were conducted at the Osthus James Funeral
Home, Clear Lake. Soloist was Larry Shaffer, accompanied by Mrs. Tom Treloar, who acted as organist.Mrs. Hampel was born July 29, 1890 at Watkins, Iowa, daughter of Chris and Emily (Heipner) Hoyt. She was married to William J. Hampel on July 7, 1909, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Surviving Mrs. Hampel are her son, Arnold of Clear Lake, five daughters, Mrs. Richard Ax of Ventura, Mrs. John Foster, Waseca, Minnesota, Mrs. Robert Pritchard, Osage, Mrs. Larry Heuberger, Reno, Nevada, and Mrs. Earl Hyde of Clear Lake.
Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Richard Rienau, Grand Junction, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one grandson, six brothers and one sister.
Activities and organizations Mrs. Hampel participated in were American Legion Auxiliary and she served as one of the first 4-H leaders in Hancock county. She was a resident of the area for 61 years.
Interment was in the Ell Township cemetery, Klemme.
