Sarah E. Griggs dies at Britt; Rites Tuesday

BRITT: Mrs. Sarah E. Griggs, 83, a longtime Britt resident, died at her home here Saturday. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Boughton Funeral Home in Britt. The Rev. Robert Jones of the Wesley Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery here.

Sarah Elizabeth Woodyard was born in Fredericksburg, Ind., Sept. 18, 1877, to Philmore and Margaret Lochmiller Woodyard. She was married to Wallace Griggs, Feb. 23, 1904. They farmed near here until retiring to Britt in 1945. Her husband died in 1947.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Olive Fegenbush, Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Mary McNary, Britt; John, on the farm here; two granddaughters and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Belle Henderson, Salem, Ind.; Mrs. Eva Davis, DePauw, Ind.; Mrs. Hattie LeGrande, Louisville, Ky.
