Sena Sweers

BRITT —Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Evangelical Free Church in Britt for Sena Sweers, 91.

The longtime Britt area resident died Thursday (Feb. 20, 1986) at a Britt nursing home.

The Rev. Jack Monroe will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5 this evening at Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt.

She was born to Ludwig and Emalene (Green) Smidt on March 10, 1894, near Ackley.

She moved with her parents at an early age to a farm near Britt. She attended rural schools near the family farm.

She married John Sweers on March 15, 1921. The couple made their home near Britt.

Mrs. Sweers continued living on the farm after Mr. Sweers' death on March 4, 1942. She moved to Britt in 1950.

Since December 1985, Mrs. Sweers has been a resident of the Westview Care Center.

She was a member of Britt Evangelical Free Church and Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Sweers is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Carrie) Schaefer of Britt, Mrs. Adrian (Lucille) DeWaard of Corwith, Mrs. Clinton (Janet) Moldenhauer of Forest City; five sons, Jake of Woden, and Louie, Ben, Elmer and Herman, all of Britt; a sister, Annie Smidt of Britt; three brothers, Anton of Kanawha, and George and Louie of Britt; 33 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
