Emma Anna (Rode) Haack was born on May 11, 1914, near Titonka, Iowa, to William and Katie Franzen Rode. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Titonka. She received her education in a country school near Titonka. After her schooling, Emma worked with her parents on the farm and also helped her family and friends with housekeeping and babysitting.

She was married to Walter William Herman Haack on October 2, 1941, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Wm. Planz. The couple farmed east of Titonka for 5 years. They then moved into Titonka, where Walter was in the plumbing and heating business and Emma was a homemaker. Emma later worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa for 8 years. Emma was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she also belonged to the Women's Circles. She belonged to the Friendly Club in Titonka. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening and her grandchildren brought her great joy.

Emma became a resident of the Bartel's Retirement Home in Waverly, Iowa in May of 2002. She died there on Sunday, January 28, 2007, at the age of 92.

Emma is survived by her 3 children, Beverly Limberg and husband, Ken, Waterloo, Iowa, Carol Heerdt, Denver, Colorado and Marvin Haack and wife, Cynthia, Waverly, Iowa. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, David Limberg and wife, Kristy, Charlene Sliger and husband, Randy, Charis King and husband, Rick, Tim Heerdt, Ron Heerdt and wife, Melissa, Erick Haack, Lisa Anderson and husband, Clint and 10 great grandchildren, RaeLynn and Jacob Limberg, Jesse, Ethan and Grace Sliger, Brittany Haack, Max and Xandra Anderson, Emma and Heather King and Mackensie Heerdt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter on August 29, 1980, one brother Forrest in 1999 and 2 brothers, Herbert and William in infancy.
