Marcella Marie Schutter was born April 18, 1934, in Dougherty, daughter of Eugene and Bridget (O'Donnell) Kelley. She grew up in Dougherty graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Mason City. Marcella was united in marriage to Harry J. Schutter on February 3, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City.

Harry and Marcella farmed in German Valley until retiring in 1992. She loved being on the farm, gardening, her flowers, baking, and neighbors stopping in for coffee. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woden and later at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Marcella also enjoyed volunteering as a "Helpmate" at the Titonka Care Center. Her real joy showed when the grandchildren came over and she was able to spend time and share stories with them.

Following Harry's death in 2008, Marcella became a resident of Goldfinch Estates Senior Living Community in Fairmont, MN, and she was loved by every employee there. Marcella died on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the age of 78.

She is survived by two sons, John Schutter and his wife Paula of Lynnville, and Joe Schutter and his wife Kelly of Lakota; 10 grandchildren, Crystal (Matt) Ward, Heather (Mike) Talbert, Amanda (Kyle) Russel, Stephanie Bowers, Mandie Boumgart, Ericka Waddle, Jeremy (Julia) Waddle, and Jenna, Krista, and Rachel Schutter. She is also survived by one sister, Lucille Amundson of Fort Dodge; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Schutter of Forest City, and Gert Kelley of Rockwell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 17, 2008; and one brother, Melvin Kelley.
