Services for Clarence V. Butts, 82, of Britt, who died Friday at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24 at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt with Rev. James Stultz of Bethel Baptist Church as officiant. Mrs. Dean Cataldo, served as organist and soloist.

Casket bearers were Jim Trulson, Leonard Schutjer, Joe Appelhons, Ing Hovda, James Winter and Dale Winter. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.

Clarence Vernon Butts, the son of Charles and Florence (Phillips) Butts was born March 3, 1902 on a farm nothwest of Britt. He attended the rural schools of Hancock County.

October 17, 1922 he married Emma E. Perkins at Garner. Clarence worked for the M. & St. L. Railroad for 43 years.

He is survived by his children: Mrs. John (Marian) Winter of Buffalo Center and Maurice Butts of Britt; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Rankin of Benson, Arizona; and three sisters-in-law; his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Butts of Berwyn, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, Sept. 13, 1970; his son, Clarence A. Butts, May 30, 1980; his grandson, Keith Winter; his great granddaughter, Emma Jo Winter; his sister, Mrs. Flossie Kurtz; five brothers; Willis, Wilbur, Lawrence, Clyde and Clifford.
