ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, Nov. 19, 1959

Mrs. Florence Steiff, 87, died Monday at Forest City.

Florence Louise Steiff was born Aug. 22, 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Howland at Lowell, Ill. Came to Hancock county in 1887. Graduated from Forest City high school and was a school teacher in earlier years. She was the last active charter member of Calvary Baptist church and joined the church on its charter day, Aug. 11, 1895.

Survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs. Harold ( Emma) Boman and Mrs. Vera Nerem of Forest City and Mrs. Arthur (Lois) Wilhour of Oskaloosa, and two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Paul of Minneapolis and Mrs. Leroy Hallett of Braham, Mn., 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceded by her husband, Leonard, who died in Feb. of 1950 and a son, Guy, who died Oct. 5, 1919 while in WW I service, and a sister, Mrs. Ira Halversen, who was killed Thursday of last week in an auto crash in Mich.

Two nephews were here for the services; Rev. Arlan Halversen of Salem, Ore. and Rev. David Halversen, a missionary to France. Pallbearers were Dean Nerem, Gerald Boman, Lee Wilhour, Keith Nerem, Lowell Waldemar and Garth Wilhour.

Services at Calvary Baptist church with burial in Madison township cemetery.
