Garner Farm Woman Dies; Rites Friday

Garner - Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Houdek, 98, will be held at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan at 9 a.m. Friday, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. Hradecky officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery at Duncan. She died at her home in Liberty Township Monday following an illness of about five weeks. The body will lie in state at the Bohn Funeral Home until the time for the service.

Anna Ptacek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ptacek, was born in Czechoslovakia on July 26, 1854. She came to America with her parents when she was 23 years old and the family first settled near Pocahontas in Humboldt County, later moving to Spillville, where she met her husband, John Houdek, with whom she was united in marriage at Spillville in 1884. About 60 years ago he family moved to the farm in Liberty Township southwest of Garner where the deceased has lived since.

Survivors are a step daughter, Mrs. James Shindelor of Fort Atkinson; four sons, Frank of Britt, and Fred, Joe and William of Garner; one stepson, Louie of Protovin; one daughter, Mrs. Anton Brcka, Garner. Three stepsons, James, Anton and George Houdek preceded her in death.
