Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 2, at 2 pm in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for Christian Reibe, 87, who died at his home Saturday, August 30. The Rev. G. J. Kupke was in charge of the services.

Christian Henry Reibe was born May 4, 1860 in Mecklenburg, Germany. He died at 87 years, three months, and 26 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

Mr. Reibe came to America in 1887 and resided at Janesville, Minn., for a while; then came to Garner prior to 1894.

December 7, 1890, he married Miss Albertine Schishka to this marriage was born four children. Two sons, John and William, preceded Mr. Reibe in death. Surviving are the widow, one son Ben of Garner; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Eva) Mueller of Des Moines; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Reibe was one of the organizers of the St. Paul’s Lutheran church in 1894. He as the last one of the charter members of the congregation.

Mr. Reibe was in the tailoring business in Garner for many years and then became associated with the Gildner clothing store prior to his retirement.

Music at the funeral was given by B.C. Berger, soloist, and he was accompanied by Mrs. O.J. Kloock, pianist. The hymns were “Let Me Go”, “Just As I am” and “Asleep In Jesus.”

Pallbearers were Carl Woiwod, Walter Woiwod, Alfred Woiwod, Lewis Grell and Edward Bohn.

Internment was made in the Concord cemetery near Garner.
