Anna Zeigler 1897 - 1993

Services for Anna Zeigier, 96, of Kanawha, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1993, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home were held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corwith with Rev. Caroline E. Engelbrecht as officiant.

Mrs. Larry Reddel, organist, accompanied Mrs. Mervin Krauss, soloist. Ushers were Dale Oberhelman and Richard Oberhelman.

Casket bearers were Paul Tew, Dwight Tew, Ron Zeigler, David Zeigler, Kelly Jackson and Rick Welsh.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt.

Anna Wilma Marie Zeigler, the daughter of Frank and August (Thome) Geilenfeldt, was born January 30, 1897 at Warren, IL. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At an early age, she moved with her family from Illinois to Lawler where she attended the rural schools.

January 12, 1921, she married Vernon James Zeigler at the Lutheran Church in New Hampton. They moved to Corwith and farmed until Vernon's death in 1957. For 23 years, Anna did practical nursing in private homes. She was a seamstress and also enjoyed gardening. In November of 1990 she moved to the Kanawha Community Nursing Home due to ill health.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martha's Circle and had taught Sunday School for many years. She also belonged to the D.Y.T. Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Edna Luella Tew and her husband, Herbert of Clarion; her daughter-in-law, Maxine Zeigler of Corwith; seven grandchildren, Paul Tew, Dwight Tew, Carol Van Dyke, Ronald Zeigler, David Zeigler, Amber Welsh and Nelda Jackson; 15 great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Zeigler, February 5, 1957; her son, Dale Franklin Zeigler, July 9, 1977; a grandson, Noland Tew; a great-grandson, Ryan Estes; her parents; and a brother, Carl Geilenfeldt.
