Body Of Farmer Found In Field

John Griffen Victim of Stroke Near Home

Garner - The body of John A. Griffen, 63, was found by his son Leon in a field on hi farm south of Garner Saturday afternoon. Death was due to a heart attack.

Mr. Griffen had repaired his corn picker earlier in the day and had gone to the field to get his tools. When he did not return to the house in a reasonable time his son went to look for him and found the body.

Mr. Griffen was born near Garner June 12, 1881, son of Edward and Mary Griffen. He lived in the community all his life.

Surviving are the following children: Fred, Alden; Mrs. John Schroeder, Garner; Leon and Betty Lou, at home. His wife died in 1938.

Also surviving are 2 brothers, Albert Lang and Louis Griffen, Klemme; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Alva Chase, Mason City; Mrs. Ralph Upmeyer and Mrs. Ben F. Greiman, Garner.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Garner, the Rev. E. F. Broberg, pastor, being assisted by the Rev. Victor V. Schuldt of Morningside collage. Burial will be in Concord township cemetery.
