John R. Smith Woden resident died Last Week

Woden: John R. Smith, resident of Woden for many years, died in his sleep during the night last Wednesday at the age of 78 years. He had, apparently been in good health and had been about in his usual manner only the day before.

Mr. Smith was born near Mason City and moved to the Woden vicinity in 1891 where he farmed for many years, later moving to Town.

Surviving are his wife Bertha, and five sons, Claus, Hans, Fred, and Martin of Woden and Jack of Renton, Oregon; one brother Ralph of Woden, a half sister Mrs. Martin Thompson of Mason City, and two half brothers Paul Lorensen of Birchinal and Martin Lorensen of Mason City. One son Ralph died in World War I, and a daughter Maggie (Mrs. John Rudisill) died in 1931.

Funeral services were held at Boughton funeral home at Britt Sunday afternoon with the Rev. H. Beyer, pastor of the St. Johns Lutheran church of Woden officiating.

Burial was in Bingham Township cemetery.
