GARNER – Ada “Addie” Schmidt, 90, of Garner died Tuesday (April 22, 2008) at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Fr. Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with a parish rosary at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Ada Linda Schmidt, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Busch) Schmidt was born March 31, 1918 on the family farm southwest of Garner. She attended Garfield Township Country School No. 8 and graduated from Garner High School in 1936. Addie taught in the rural schools of Garfield Township in Hancock County for three years. She then worked at the C.H. Schissel Department Store in Garner which later became West Department Store for ten years. In 1947, Addie began working as a bookkeeper for the Farmer’s Co-op Creamery in Garner and held that position for 31 years. Following retirement, she worked at the St. Boniface Catholic Church office and did volunteer work for the church.

Addie was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Parish Society, Senior Citizens and WS Homemakers.

She is survived by her twin sister, Erma Linda Schmidt of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

Addie was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie Roach, Eulalia Albers and Gertrude Schmidt; three brothers, Leo, Arnold and Alois Schmidt; two brothers-in-law, Michael Roach and George Albers; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Schmidt and Gladys Schmidt.

Addie loved her family and friends and will be sorely missed.
