Henry S. Schauf, Woden passes away at 78 years

Woden - Henry S. Schauf died Sunday morning, February 15, at 3:00 a.m., following an illness of about a week, at the age of 78 years. He suffered a paralytic stroke on February 3, and had been seriously ill since that time.

Mr. Schauf was born at Lippert, Germany, in 1884 [1864], and lived at Waukon, Iowa for many years, later moving to a farm in Winnebago county. Mr. and Mrs. Schauf moved to their home in Woden in 1928 where they lived until their death. Mrs. Schauf passed away in 1939.

Surviving are three sons: Albert of Burns, Wyoming, Elmer of Thompson and Ben of Crystal Lake, and four daughters, Mrs. Alfred Hanna and Mrs. Gilman Hanna of Woden, Mrs. Bert Robinson of Thompson and Mrs. J. C. Helm of Woden and a large number of grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Schauf home, followed by services at the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Henry Kruse officiating. Burial was in the Bingham township cemetery.
