1899-1991Services for Louis Huisinga, 92, of Woden, who died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1991 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt were held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Christian Reformed Church southwest of Woden with Rev. Gerald DeVries as officiant.
Mrs. Ernest Van Weelden, organist, accompanied soloist, Dale Meyer.
Casket bearers were Robin Severson, Larry Dirksen, Oliver "Rusty" Kardoes, Randy Bollinger, Ed Kiilsholm and Stan Limberg.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.
Louis Huisinga, 92, of Woden, the son of. Heiko and Anna (Schmidt) Huisinga, was born January 4, 1899 in Ostfreisland, Germany. As an infant, he came to the United States with his family. They lived in Kamrar, moved to a farm near Lakota and later to a farm near Woden. For many years he farmed with his brother, Imko Huisinga.
In 1972, he moved into Woden, where he resided until his death, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1991.
He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, southwest of Woden.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Sadie (Mrs. Imko) Huisinga of Crystal Lake; nieces, Ann Gingrich of Fenton, Rosalie H. Norem of Washington, D. C. and Sylvia Severson of Minneapolis, MN; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Heiko and Anna Huisinga; two sisters, one an infant and Tillie Limberg; four brothers, Harm H. Huisinga, Imko Huisinga and two brothers who died in childhood; and a nephew, Herman Limberg.
