Services held Saturday for Henry P. Meyer
Services for Henry P. Meyer, 79, a retired Crystal Lake farmer, were held Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with the Rev. Owen Gangstead and the Rev. Walter Olson officiating. Burial was at the Madison township cemetery.
Casket bearers were Martin A. Furst II, Raymond Furst, Eugene Lowe, Gerald Meyer, Herman Meyer and Norman Peterson. Music was provided by Mrs. John Sonius, soloist, and Norma Boomgarden, organist.
Mr. Meyer died Nov. 10 [1971] at his winter home in Harlingen, Texas, after an apparent heart attack.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1892, at Garner, the son of Fred and Henrietta Meyer. On Oct. 22, 1913, he married the former Mary Bonar at the Bonar home southwest of Forest City.
Mr. Meyer retired from farming in 1957. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; four children, David Meyer of Leland, Melvin Meyer of Britt, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Edwin of Forest City and Mrs. Martin ( Mary) Furst of Thompson; 12 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Lester of Duncan, William of Garner, Victor and Alvin of Clear Lake and Harry of Mason
City; and one sister, Mrs. William (Lydia) Schneider of Tucson, Ariz.Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Frances, and two grandchildren.
