February 24, 1964 Obituary Clara A. Schlichting

Mrs. Clara Schlichting was born at Rockford, Iowa, October 24, 1878, the daughter of Herman and Martha Vennekolt Ludeke.

As a young girl, she came to the Klemme community, and grew to womanhood on the farm 1/2 mile west of town. She was married March 19, 1913 to Fred Schlichting, and for several years they farmed in the Klemme vicinity. They retired 20 years ago and moved to town. Mr. Schlichting passed away in 1956.

Mrs. Schlichting passed away early Wednesday morning, February 26, 1964 at a Mason City Hospital. She had fallen ten days ago, and suffered a broken hip. She was 85 years of age.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Gladys Huckins of Mason City, Mrs. Mabel Lassahn of Klemme; also surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Henry Ludeke of Klemme, Ralph Ludeke of Clear Lake, Emma, Mrs. Art Schoenwetter of Klemme, Mary, Mrs. George Schoenwetter of Klemme, Mrs. Lydia Ax of Klemme, as well as 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and by two brothers, Elmer and Fred, and by two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Weisbrod and Mrs. Ida Suckow.

Casket bearers were Jack Dominic, Homer Schoenwetter, George Schlichting. Glen Schlichting, Herman Meyer and Maynard Weisbrod. Interment: Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, Iowa.
