February 4, 1956 Obituary Fred Schlichting

Mr. Fred Schlichting, age 78, passed away at his home in Klemme, on February 2, 1956, after a lingering illness.

He was born July 20, 1877, in Mecklenburg, Germany, and came to this county at the age of seven. He came to Hancock County, where he attended the public schools, and where later he engaged in farming, until his retirement, at which time he moved to Klemme.

On March 19, 1913, Mr. Schlichting was united in marriage to Clara Luedke. To this union were born two children, Gladys (Mrs. Edwin Huckins), and Mable (Mrs. Mable Lassahn).

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Clara, his two children, Mrs. Huckins and Mrs. Lassahn; three grandchildren, Joyce, Gordon, and Terry Lassahn; three brothers, Adolph of Klemme, Henry of Mason City, and Charles of LaMar, Missouri; also nephews, nieces, and many other distant relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, William of Goodell. Casket Bearers were Wallace Pavey, Henry Buseman, Herman Back, Clarence Bachman, Jim Thomas and Joseph Schuldt. Interment in Ell Township Cemetery.
