Shirlene Faye Young, the daughter of Clarence and Albena (Hestad) Hestness was born February 17, 1937 at Lake Mills. She attended school in Lake Mills, graduating in 1955. On August 16, 1955 she was married to Francis Young at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Forest City. They lived in several towns in Minnesota for six years and then moved to Garner where they raised their family. In the early 1980's, Shirlene and Francis owned and operated the A & W Drive-In in Garner. Shirlene also worked for the Garner-Hayfield School system in the lunch program. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren,
friends, baking and traveling. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Homemaker's Club, Red Hat's Society and was an active fundraiser for the Hancock County Relay for Life.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Young of Garner; four children, Daniel Young of West Des Moines, Leslie Tighe and her husband, Richard, of Las Vegas, NV, Jean Klumpp and her husband, Michael, of Sioux Falls, SD and Carole Haan and her husband, Bryan, of Biloxi, MS; nine grandchildren, Abigail Tighe, Kathryn Tighe, Emily Tighe, John Klumpp, Kyle Klumpp, AnneMarie Klumpp, Elisabeth Klumpp, Allison Haan and Jacob Haan; siblings, Elwood Hestness and his wife, Valta, of Albert Lea, MN, Vivian Brudvig of Scarville, Adrian Hestness and his wife, Yvonne, of Albert Lea, MN, Jerry Hestness and his wife,
Dorothy, of Mason City and Gene Hestness and his wife, Marie, of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Gladys Hestness of Rosemount, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents; a brother, Virgil Hestness and a sister, Mavis Cornick, preceded her in death.
