Rev. Kay HooperLloyd Lester Bier, the son of Henry and Priscilla (Pals) Bier, was born July 19, 1927 near Belmond. He attended Belmond Community Schools and then worked for farmers in the Belmond area. On December 14, 1946 he married Etta Lou Webner at the Evangelical and Reformed Church parsonage in Klemme. They worked on farms in Kanawha and Garner. In 1957, they moved to a farm near Klemme and began farming on their own. In 1966, they moved to a farm near Garner where Lloyd continued to farm until retiring in 1985. For the next seven years he worked in the maintenance department at Prairie View Apartments in Garner.
Lloyd enjoyed horseshoe pitching, making miniature horse harnesses, woodworking, going to auctions and watching his grandchildren's activities.He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garner and the North Iowa Horseshoe Pitchers Association.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Etta Lou of Garner; daughter, Roberta Carolus and her husband, Keith, of Klemme and their four children, Barbara Ralston and her husband, Gary, of Ark. and their two sons, Brian and Chris Ralston, Dawn Booker and her husband, Donald, of Tenn. and son, Clark Campos, Bradley Carolus and his wife, Jesse, of Klemme and their daughter, Bretta, and Daniel Carolus of Meservey and his special friend, Karla Quam; daughter, Diana
Deibler and her husband, Bill, of Hayfield and their two children, Jennifer Osterkamp and her husband, Ryan, of Hayfield and Billy Deibler of Hayfield; son, Lloyd Bier Jr. and his wife, Jan, of Garner and their children, Wesley and Brianne; sister, Ethel Young of Belmond; brother, Paul Bier of Belmond; sisters-in-law, Ardis Bier of Clear Lake, Clara Bier of Goodell, Doris Palmer and her husband, Willard, of Holland, IA and Amy Webner of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Schlawin of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Warren and Glenn Bier; a brother in infancy, Lester Bier; and sisters, Laura Haupt, Iva Beek and Wanda Bier.
