Obituary

Charles August Bredlow, age 84, died peacefully at his farm home, 15 miles east of Klemme,
on Saturday, October 18, 1947.

He was born January 16, 1863 in Brandenberg, Germany, and at the age of six years his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bredlow, and their family of six children migrated to America
and settled on a farm near Lowell, Wisconsin. Here Charles Bredlow attended the rural
schools, learned the business of farming by working for various farmers and grew to manhood.

In 1888, at the age of 25, Charles Bredlow came to Liberty township, and the following year
was married to Minnie A. Stille. They purchased a farm in Liberty Township, built up the
buildings, and became the parents of ten children all born on this Liberty Township farm.

After 27 years they sold the farm and moved to Vinita, Oklahoma, where they farmed for 11
years, then they came back to Iowa and farmed two miles west of Klemme for 12 years. It
was on this farm that the wife, Minnie, passed away at the age of 65 in 1928.

And now for the past five years, Charles Bredlow, together with two sons, Curtis and
Lester, and one daughter, Edna, have farmed together on their Cerro Gordo County farm east
of Klemme.

Mr. Bredlow became a member of the Liberty Methodist Church three years after the church
was built and taught the young mens class in Sunday School for a quarter of a century.

Mr. Bredlow was a capable man, modest and unassuming. His long life was spent in being
helpful to his family and to his community.

He is survived by his six sons, Walter, Clear Lake; Herbert, Garner; Elmer, Hayfied;
Clarence, Rockwell and Curtis and Lester, Swaledale. Three daughters, Helen, Mrs. Wm.
Suckow, Van Meter, Iowa; Mable, Mrs. Geo. White, Big Cabin, Oklahoma, and Edna at home,
Swaledale, also 19 grand children and one sister, Mrs. Aug. Nuehring, Garner.
