Minnie Agnes Carothers was born March 10, 1890 at Garner, Hancock, IA to George Patterson Carothers and Emma Ingram. Minnie was the ninth of eleven children. Her siblings were: Sarah Ellen, John Hamilton, James Dale, Rosella Jane, William Garfield, Etta Martha, Elizabeth Miller, Mary Josephine, Margaret Alys and Albert George.

Minnie is found in the 1895, 1900 and 1905 censuses living at Garner, Hancock, IA:

1895: Minnie Carothers age 4.

1900: Emma Carothers 43, Sadie E Carothers 24, Jennie R Carothers 20, William G Carothers 18, Lizzie M Carothers 14, Josephine M Carothers 12, Minnie A Carothers 10, Margaret A Carothers 7. (Her father had died March 6, 1900.)

Minnie married Homer J. Young on September 14, 1911 at Garner, Hancock, Iowa.

They had 3 children:
Homer Dale Young (born July 30, 1913 Garner, IA, died Nov 27, 1944 Germany);

Doris Belle (born abt 1922 Garner, IA) and

Dorothy (born abt 1928 Garner, IA).

Family found in the 1915 census living at Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo, IA.

Found in the 1920, 1925, 1930 censuses at Garner, Hancock, IA:
1920: Homer Young 30, Minie Young 29, Vale Young 6.

1925: Homer J Young Junior 35, Minnie A Young 34, Dale H Young 11, Dores Bell Young 3.

1930: Homer Young 40, Minnie Young 40, Dale Young 16, Doris Belle Young 8, Dorothy Young 2.

In 1936, Minnie and Homer were living at Algona, Iowa.

In 1962, believe she was living at Seattle, Washington.

News clippings found in the Mason City Globe Gazette, December 1930:
"Mr. and Mrs. Homer Young entertained Monday in honor of Mrs. Bert Grosbeck, Briggsdale, Colorado. (Mrs. Bert Grosbeck was Minnie's oldest sister, Sarah Ellen Carothers.) Guests were Mr. & Mrs. William Badker (Mrs. William Badker was formerly Rosella Carothers, Minnie's sister), Verna Carothers (Minnie's niece, daughter of James Carothers, Minnie's brother), Lauretta Murphy, Garrett Soselton, Mason City, Mr. & Mrs. John Carothers (Minnie's brother) and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lade (Mrs. Albert Lade was formerly Minnie's sister, Margaret Alys Carothers)."

Also from Globe Gazette, September 17, 1936:
"A large group gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Young in Algona to celebrate their 25th Wedding anniversary. Guests included Dr. and Mrs. James Young, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Young and 2 children, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Young and 2 daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jones (Mrs. Bert Jones was formerly Golda M Carothers, Minnie's niece) and 2 children, Mr. and Mrs. John Carothers and son, Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. James Carothers and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lade."

Believe Minnie Agnes Carothers Young died either November 1st or 2nd, 1974 at Edmonds, Snohomish, Washington.

She is buried at the Concord Cemetery, Garner, Hancock, Iowa.
