ERNEST ELWOOD LEWIS - 1901-1961
Passed away at the age of 60 years and 21 days at the Belmond Memorial Hospital at 11:15 A. M. Sunday, September 17, 1961. The immediate cause of death was heart failure.
He was born August 26, 1901 to Blanche F. McGrady and Llewellyn C. P. Lewis in Klemme, Iowa. He attended school in Klemme until the age of 16 when he joined the Navy, May 4, 1918 during World War I. He served as a radio operator. He was honorably discharged September 30, 1921.
Following the termination of his enlistment he worked for a number of years in and out of Grundy Center, Iowa.
In the fall of 1933 he returned to Klemme and established a business which he maintained up to the time of his death. On November 5, 1936 he was married to Gladys Franz. During World War II he served with the Signal Corps. He has been a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Klemme.
He leaves to mourn him, his wife, Gladys; his brothers, Verner of Klemme; Holly of San Diego; and Charles of Long Beach; nieces and nephew and a host of friends.
