MRS. VIRGIL (Jennie) COOK - 1885-1968
Mrs. Jennie Cook, daughter of Henry and Susie Herrick was born in Illinois on March 2, 1885. As a young girl she lived in Illinois until the age of 15, when she moved to Iowa with her parents coming to the Swaledale area. She continued her schooling in Iowa and attended schools in Swaledale, Clear Lake and Mason City.
On February 22, 1912, she was united in marriage to Virgil Cook at the Methodist Church Parsonage, Mason City by the Rev. Clark. She and her husband moved to the farm southeast of Klemme where she lived for the next 40 years. 16 years ago they retired and moved into their home in Klemme.
Although they had no children of their own, they brought into their home two young boys and raised them. They are Louis Stahl, and Phillip Cook.
Mrs. Cook had been in failing health for sometime and passed away suddenly at her home in Klemme on Saturday evening, April 6. She was 83 years of age.
Surviving are her husband, Virgil, and one sister, Nancy (Mrs. Roy Corbett) of Austin, Minn.
She was preceeded in death by her parents and by her sister Mrs. Lou Corbett.
