Services Held on Tuesday for Mrs. John Johnson:
Services for Mrs. John Johnson pioneer resident of Hancock County were held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. Warren S. Paige, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. Interment took place in Evergreen cemetery.
Annie Mary Baker, daughter of Conrad and Eva Elizabeth Sohn-Baker, was born Jan 27, 1874, at Bradford, Ind. Her education was received in Harrison County. On Feb. 6, 1901, she was united in marriage to John Johnson sone of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Johnson, the wedding taking place at Corydon, Ind.
The couple established their home on a farm near Britt. The home was blessed with five sons, Herbert; Clyde, Frank, Homer and Gilbert. The family farmed their entire life in this vicinity.
The family circle was broken for the first time on Jan. 16, 1940, when Mr. Johnson passed away. Mrs. Johnson continued to farm with her sons for several years before retirement to Britt. About 6 years ago Mrs. Johnson's health failed. She then established her residence at the Good Samaritan Home in Mason City. About 10 days ago Mrs. Johnson developed pnuemonia. Saturday afternoon she slept away at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 7 days.
She is survived by her children, Herbert; Clyde, Frank, Britt; Homer and Gilbert, Mason City, also reared in the Johnson (home) was a neice, Eva, now Mrs. Paul Jahnke and Elmer Thompson, Mason City. In addition she is survived by 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one brother Charles Baker, Rose Creek, Minn. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceeded in death by five brothers Henry, Adam, John, Gust and Anthony Baker; also three sisters, Elizabeth, Margaret and Mrs. Louise Thompson.
