Mabel Barz (September 17, 1912 - March 2, 2006)

KLEMME; Mabel Barz, 93, of Klemme died Thursday (March 2, 2006) at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, April 21st at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Pastor Donna Buckman officiating. Burial will be held 10 A.M., Friday, April 21st at Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. There will be no visitation.

Mabel Norma Barz, the daughter of Ralph Johannes and Ida A. Louise (Schlawin) Brouwer, was born September 17, 1912 on a farm east of Garner, Iowa. She received her education in rural schools near Garner. After the death of her mother in 1923, she made her home with older brothers and sisters. On November 24, 1932, she was united in marriage to Harvey E. Barz at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. They resided in Klemme for sixty years. In July 2001, she moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner and in March of 2002 to Sheldon Iowa where she resided at Northwest Iowa Health Center, Senior Care. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, embroidery, fishing and travel.

She was an active member of her church singing in the choir and participating in church circles. Mabel also was a member of several community organizations. She is survived by two sons, Harley (Dora) Barz of Sheldon, IA, Graydon (Marlene) Barz of Southport, NC; a daughter, Myrna (DeLoss) Main of Green Valley, AZ; five grandchildren, Kerstin (Jerry) Kaiser of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Barz of Longmont CO, Graydon Barz Jr. of New York City, NY, Christa (Jeff) Duncanson of Brandon, SD and Carrie (Michael) Dvorak of Superior, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Griffin and Mason Kaiser, Riley and Kailee Duncanson and Caitlin, Mackenzie, Carley and Findley Dvorak; and in-laws, Eugene and Doris Greimann, Gladys Barz and Emma Palmby. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents, six brothers, Elmer, Arthur, Raymond, Clifford, Clarence, and Richard Brouwer; and four sisters, Esther Holt, Helen Brouwer, Iris Greiman and Meta Roper (twin).
