Fern Bartik (April 25, 1918 - March 26, 2006)

BRITT; Fern Bartik, 87, of Britt died Sunday (March 26, 2006) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

Leona Fern Bartik, the daughter of Rev. Clarence Oliver and Lelah Maye (Scott) Arnaman, was born April 25, 1918 at Exline, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Centerville. On August 1, 1934 she was married to Willie Frank Bartik at Unionville, MO. They moved to Britt where they raised their family. Fern enjoyed her family, grandchildren, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and raising cats. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Britt, HCMH Auxiliary and was active in community affairs.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janis (Larry) Sharp of West Des Moines and Francine Ryerson of Forest City; four grandsons, Brad Sharp, Stan Sharp, Jay Ryerson and Aaron Ryerson; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Bartik of Lake Havasu, AZ; and nieces and nephews.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bartik, Jan. 3, 2000; son-in-law, Jerome Ryerson; her parents; a sister, Evelyn F. Bartik; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Bartik, Ernest Bartik and Anthony Bartik; and a sister-in-law, Minnie Loo Bartik.
