Obituary of Mrs. Blumer
After a lingering illness, Mrs. Jacob Blumer passed away last Saturday August 30. Christina Magdelena nee Niedermeier, was born Aug.4th, 1838 at Kittlinger, Wuetemberg, Germany. She was educated in the parochial schools of the Protestent Evangelical church that place. May 15th, 1860 she entered into holy matrimony with Mr. Jacob Blumer, who was her loving and faithful husband and support until the time of her death. Ten children came to bless their home, of whom 5 soon were taken away again.
1883 they emigrated to America and settled on a farm in the vicinity of Garner, IA. In 1902 they left their farm and retired to Klemme, where they have ever since resided.
Mrs. Blumer had been ailing for many years, but not until the last few weeks was she confined to her bed. During this time she was suffering immensely, and found relief in death, which she had earnestly desired. She attained the age of 76 years and 26 days. She is survived and her death mourned by her beloved husband, four children, 16 grand children, and four great grand children, and by one brother and two sisters.
The funeral took place Tuesday Sept. 1, officiated by Rev. W.P. Theil and Rev. O.A. Schmid of the Reformed Church. The body was interned in the Ell Town Cemetery.From the Garner Paper
