Matt C. Kudej, 85 services held Tues.

Matt C. Kudej, 85, died Saturday at Grohaven Home, Forest City. A retired farmer, he had been in failing health for the past two years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Wenceslaus Catholic church in Duncan. Burial took place in St. John's cemetery at Duncan. The Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. on Monday at a funeral home in Britt.

Born Feb. 22, 1883, at Ackley, he was married Sept. 22, 1914, to Emma Hejlik at Duncan. They farmed near Duncan until retiring. He was a school director and a member of the Catholic Workman's Lodge. His wife died in 1966.

Surviving are three sons; Robert and Eugene, Britt, Donald at Forest City, 10 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jack (Carrie) Lapitz, Britt; a brother, Joseph, Britt.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William.
