Jane Berhow
1924-1998

Memorial services for Jane Berhow, 74, of Garner, who died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City were held at 2 p.m., Sunday Oct. 11, the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, with Pastor David Wiersbe of the Evangelical Free Church in Clear Lake as officiant.

Organist, Mrs. Dean Cataldo accompanied, soloist Joel Doble.

Honorary bearers were grandsons, Johathan Berhow Rivera, Nelson Berhow Rivera, Abraham Quintus, Samuel Quintus, Rockford Berhow, Brandon Berhow Goll, Dalton Berhow Goll, Charles Hare and Richard Hare.

Burial of the cremains was held in the Concord Township Cemetery.

Nancy Jane Berhow, the daughter of Leonard Frank and Ann Elizabeth (Colburn) Hare, was born May 14, 1924, in Des Moines. She attended school in Des Moines, graduating from high school in 1943.

July 19, 1944, she married John Harlan Berhow in Des Moines. They made their home in Des Moines where she worked at the Ankeny War Plant. In 1949, they moved to Hampton and in 1962, to Garner where they owned and operated Berhow Plumbing and heating for 13 years. Jane also operated J & K Wood-finishing for many years.

In December of 1997, she moved to Westview Care Center in Britt. She enjoyed her family, fishing, cross-country skiing and teaching her grandchildren to play baseball.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Mason City, Wa Tan Ye's and Sweet Adelines.

She is survived by four daughters, Susan Berhow Rivera of Apple Valley, MN, Sandra Quintus and her husband, Steven of Garner, Christine Greiman and her husband, Bill of Klemme, and Jennifer Berhow Hanson and her husband, Kevin of Ventura; grandchildren, Jonathan Berhow-Rivera, Andrea Berhow-Rivera, Nelson Berhow-Rivera, Erin Fortin and her husband, Andy, Terra Bill and her husband, Rodney, Abraham Quintus and Samuel Quintus, Natasha Berhow, Rockford Berhow, Brandon Berhow Goll, Blair Berhow-Goll and Dalton Berhow-Goll; a great-granddaughter, Mikaella Berhow-Rivera and five step-grandchildren, Thomas Greiman, Shenna Greiman, Tara Greiman, Rebecca Hanson and Katie Hanson; a brother, Charles M. Hare and his wife, Esther of Des Moines;, a sister-in-law, Opal Clark and her husband, Max of Tyler, TX; and six nieces and nephews, Richard Hare, William Hare, John Hare, Mary Swarm, Barbara Griemer and Frank Hare.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, December 9, 1976; a daughter, Nancy Berhow, May 23, 1966; her parents; and a brother, Richard C. Hare.
