Peter Falada 1911-1992

Services for Peter E. Falada, 80, Forest City, who died Tuesday, April 7, 1992 at his home in Forest City, were held Friday, April 10, 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Rev. Leo Riley officiating. William J. Malek served as lector.

Music was provided by soloist, Louise Zrostlik, and organist, Sharon Hadacek.

Honorary casket bearers were William Miles, James Falada and Kenneth Olson.

Active bearers were John F. Buzicky, Francis Falada, Jerome Formanek, Donald Hrubes, Wayne Kudej and Francis Zrostlik.

Burial was at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Duncan.

Peter E. Falada, the son of Frank and Stella (Hejlik) Falada, was born August 8, 1911 in Duncan. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and received his education in the Duncan School. For several years he worked in his father's general store in Duncan.

November 28, 1933, he married Bessie Formanek Duncan. Peter and his wife ran a general store in Duncan for 35 years. In 1968, they moved to Forest City where Peter worked for a time for Winnebago Industries. Even after his formal retirement, Peter worked for three years at the Red Owl Store in Forest City until illness forced him to quit.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City and a member of the Catholic Workman Lodge in Duncan.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Falada of Forest City; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Sweet of Spring Valley, CA, and Mrs. Frank (Emma) Zrostlik of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Buzicky; two sisters and a twin brother, all three who died in infancy.
