Funeral services for Bessie M. Golbuff, 88, of Britt who died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Westview Care center, were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Britt with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Rhonda Budlong. Ushers were Harry Smith and Robert Bravick.

Casket bearers were Bessie's grandchildren.

Burial was at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation was held Monday at the Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt.

Bessie Mildred Golbuff, the daughter of Mortimer and Emma (Lansig) Lackore, was born May 25, 1909 at Hayfield. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith and was a charter member of the Methodist Church in Hayfield. After graduating from Hayfield Consolidated High School in 1927, she moved with her family to Waterloo. Upon returning to Hayfield after one year, she worked in the combined post office and grocery store for W.F. Mertz.

May 10, 1929, she was married to Oscar Wm. Golbuff at the Congregational parsonage in Waterloo. They farmed near Hayfield until 1965, when they moved into Britt. After her husband's death, June 19, 1983, she continued to live in Britt. In September of 1985, Bessie moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner. Bessie had worked as an aide at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, UMW, and Britt Senior Citizens. She was part of the Hancock County Women's Chorus and her very special friends in the G.G. Club.

She is survived by her three sons, Dale Golbuff and his wife, JoAnn of Albert Lea, MN, Gary Golbuff and his wife, Sharon of Rodman, and David Golbuff and his wife, Mary of Ft. Collins, CO; eight grandchildren, Paul Golbuff of Lincoln City, OR, Ted Golbuff of Minneapolis, MN, Scott Golbuff of Albert Lea, MN, Brad Golbuff of Hull, Tim Golbuff of Lake Forest, CA, Dan Golbuff of Polk City, Tami Elliot and Chuck Jordan both of Ft. Collins, CO; five great grandchildren, Lissa, Corey, Nick, Alex and Jenni; a brother, Archie Lackore and his wife, Lucille of Winona, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar GoIbuff; her parents; an infant granddaughter; an infant brother; three sisters, Eva McIntyre, Edna Ballheim and Twyla Bickle; three brother-in-laws, Edwin Wood, Dr. C.C. McIntyre and Mark Ballheim.
