Services for Patricia Weiland-Helps, 51, Forest City, who died Monday, Feb. 20, 1994 [1995], at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt following a battle with cancer, were held Friday, Feb. 24, 10:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Rev. Jerry Kopacek as officiant.

Burial was at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Duncan with Petersen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Weiland-Helps, the daughter of William and Anna (Stupka) Tlach of Britt, was born May 7, 1943, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. She received her education in Hancock County and graduated from Britt High School in 1960 and from Hamilton Business College in Mason City in 1961. Patricia worked at American State Bank in Mason City for a year and then worked 21 years at Winnebago Industries in Forest City.

June 26, 1962, she married Darrill Weiland and they shared three children, Jacque, Doug and Brenda. She later married Merlyn Helps on April 30, 1988. Pat enjoyed her family, her work, making crafts, flowers and loved her dog, Rusty.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City. She was a giver, never complaining.

She is survived by her children, Jacquelyn Weiland of Bentonville, AR, Douglas Weiland of Leland and Brenda and her husband, Mike McGrane of Carmichael, CA; her parents, William and Anna Tlach of Britt; her sister, Kathy and her husband, Art Linden, nieces Jessica and Amanda, all of Golden Valley, MN; stepchildren, Randy and Barb Helps of Grimes, Rick and Julie Helps of Des Moines, Gary and Ronda Gillam of Casa Grande. AZ, and their families; a brother-in-law, Harlan Helps of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Lois Rayhons of Garner; several aunts; an uncle; cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Merlyn, who died January 23, 1995; and her sister, Betty Stekly, who died in October of 1977; and her grandparents.
