Services for Olga Hodson, 88, of Garner, who died Tuesday, March 16, 1993 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 19, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Robert T. Ellis as officiant.

Mrs. Richard Johnson was organist. Vern Butz served as usher.

Casket bearers were Harold Hall, James Schultz, Bob Haugland, Don Kammrad, Reuben "Butch" Whitehurst and Stanley Hallet.

Burial was in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Olga Hodson, the daughter of Christian and Christina (Toppenberg) Boddum, who were of Danish descent, was born on a farm near Williams on October 4, 1904. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Williams and confirmed at the Upper Flat Evangelical Free Church north of Britt. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School and then attended a teachers college where she received her teaching certificate. Olga taught elementary students for 25 years, her last position being at the Kamrar Center of the Northeast Hamilton Community Schools.

March 29, 1936, she was married to Howard C. Hodson at Crystal Lake. They lived on a farm near Crystal Lake, moved to Forest City and later to Garner where they lived the rest of their lives. She especially enjoyed gardening.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W., We Sixties Senior Citizens and was a life member of the I.S.E.A.

She is survived by her sister, Louise Peterson of Long Beach, CA; a brother-in-law, Stan Toppen of Los Angeles, CA; a sister-in-law, Marie Boddum of Waynesville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hodson, May 7, 1976; her parents; three sisters, Ann Curtis, Bonnie Toppen and Jenny Olson: and a brother, Peter Boddum.
