Services for Frank G. Formanek, 78, of Garner, who died Thursday at his home in Garner were held 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Msgr. John Chihak as celebrant.

Leonard Formanek served as lector. Mass servers were Bob Formanek, Jim Chizek and Matt Formanek. Mrs. Roger Kopacek, organist, accompanied the church choir. Bill Jakoubek and Don Frein were ushers.

Casketbearers were Frank's grandsons; Randy Formanek, Steve Formanek, Rick Formanek, Gerald Formanek, Larry Formanek, Greg Formanek and Dean Formanek.

Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery at Duncan. Visitation and parish and Catholic Workman's rosaries were held Friday evening at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Frank Formanek, the son of Frank and Anna (Shileny) Formanek was born July 8, 1906 on a farm north of Duncan. After attending the rural schools of Garfield Township, he farmed with his parents for several years.

November 26, 1929 he married Rose Schoun at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They farmed in the Duncan area until 1972 when they retired from active farming and moved into Garner. Frank worked at Iowa Mold and Tooling Company from 1972-82 as a custodian.

He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Catholic Workman's Lodge, Branch No. 51.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Garner; two sons, Raymond and his wife, Mary Lou, of Garner and Leo and his wife, Mary, of Garner; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister Mrs. Jerome (Lillian) Tupy of New Hampton; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rose Formanek of Garner, Mrs. Vivian Formanek of Britt, Mrs. Agnes Formanek of Hayfield and Mrs. Elsie Formanek of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Nedved and an infant sister; five brothers, Lewis Formanek, James Formanek, George Formanek, Edward Formanek and Joseph T. Formanek.
