Forest Citian died unexpectedly

Frank Kasik of Forest City, 62, died unexpectedly last Thursday at a Carthage, Mo., hospital. Kasik had been delivering a motor home when he was stricken with a massive coronary attack and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Kasik were held Monday morning at Immanuel Lutheran church in Forest City. The Rev. Steven Dornbusch officiated.

Donald Meyer was soloist and Robert Abkes, organist. Casket bearers were Claire Haugen, Duane Larson, Harold Michels, LeRoy Nelson, Cecil Olson and Dennis Steffensen. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery. Presentation of the American Flag was made by Forest City American Legion Post 121. Petersen Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Frank Kasik, the son of Vaclav and Josephine Hrah Kasik, was born July 4, 1920, in Mason City. He graduated from Mason City high school in 1938.

While in high school, he started working for Sieg Auto Parts. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, served aboard the USS Black in the south Pacific and received his discharge in 1945. Kasik returned to Sieg and was married to Lorraine Larson June 2, 1946.

He was transferred to Forest City where he was the manager and salesman for Sieg Auto Parts until his retirement in 1978. Mrs. Kasik died March 31, 1980. For the last 1 1/2 years, Frank delivered Winnebago motor homes for RV Transport in Forest City.

Kasik was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and former board member for Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp in Story City. He recently received a volunteer award given by the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. He had a great love for the outdoors, camping and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Kyle Kasik of Forest City, a sister, Mrs. Ann Michels of Mason City, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and James, his son, Jerry, who died in 1968, and his wife, Lorraine.
