Harley L. Greiman
1941-1996

Memorial services for Harley L. Greiman, 55, who was accidentally electrocuted Sunday, June 23, 1996, were held Friday, June 28, at Lake Wildwood in California with Rev. Gerald Emerald of Unity Church of the Sierra officiating.

An introduction was given by Bruce Van Zee. A Parade of Boats and Flags was held in Harley's honor by students of Nevada Union High School. Vocalist was Keith Kerr and the guitar was played by Karen Hayden.

Memories were offered by many friends and family, including his wife, Jeannie; daughter, Jennifer; stepson, Paul; and brother, Terry.

Harley Greiman, the son of Howard and Pauline (Michelson) Greiman, was born April 11, 1941. He attended Garner schools and graduated in 1959 from Garner-Hayfield High School. He graduated from Utah State in 1964 in Logan, UT, with a major in Wildlife and Ranger Management.

February 19, 1966, he married Judith Nicodemus in Ouray, CO. The marriage ended in divorce.

October 30, 1986, he married Jean Marie Masquelery in Reno, NV.

As the regional forester's representative in Sacramento since 1989, Harley was the Forest Service's point man in dealings with the Legislature, governor, state agencies and special-interest groups.

Harley was a familiar figure to Lake Wildwood residents, jogging six miles nearly every morning with the couple's two English setters. He was an avid bird watcher, scuba diver, skier, fisherman and enjoyed out door sports. In an excerpt from "Uncompahgre Seasons" an unfinished memoir he was writing, he said, "I decided that if fate was such that I wouldn't chance the 'giving of one's life for one's country' in some foreign place for equally foreign justification, I would dedicate it in exchange for doing what I could to assure that the quality of the land, its resources and the associated experiences they offer would long be available for others."

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie, who also works for the Forest Service; a daughter, Jennifer, a doctoral candidate at the University of California at Berkley; a step-son, Paul Schwabe of Lake Wildwood who is a senior in high school; his parents, Howard and Pauline Greiman of Garner; a brother, Terry and his wife, Rita Greiman of Bloomfield, NM; a brother, Gregory of Garner; a nephew, Chris and his wife, Tara, and their daughter, Tristyn Lyn Greiman; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Brenden Jon Greiman in 1983.
