Andrew J. Drake, 77, of Leland dies in hospital

Funeral services for Andrew J. Drake. 77, of Leland were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Leland with the Rev. Milo Lee officiating. Mrs. Wayne Ambroson was the organist, Wayne Ambroson the soloist. Burial was in Madison cemetery. Olson funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Drake died Sunday at Mercy hospital in Mason, City. He was born Jan. 13, 1892, at Otto. Ill., to William and Margaret Drake. He moved with his parents to Buffalo Center where they farmed for several years.

On Jan. 6, 1914, he was married to Mary Dingman at Forest City., They farmed for six years near Cartersville, in 1920 they moved to Crystal Lake where Mr. Drake owned and operated a garage for 25 years. In 1945 they moved to Leland. He was employed by the Forest City canning company until his retirement in 1957. Mr. Drake was in failing health the past year and entered the Clear Lake nursing home last April.

The widow and four children survive. They are Francis of Clear Lake, Delose of Hopkips, Minn.; Mrs. Jerry (Vivian) Wubben at Titonka; and Mrs.. Walter (Olive) Bachman, Sterling, Ill. There are 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Walter of Chicago and Roy of Hampton, and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Barz of Klemme and Mrs.. Ray
Chase of Belmond. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard in 1961 and Robert in 1962 a grandson, Dennis Wubben; a brother and a sister.
