Services for Edward Wellik, 84, of Garner, who died Friday, Jan. 31, 1992 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Fr. John W. Hemann as celebrant. Tim Tusha was lector. Mass servers were Jim Olsen, Rodney Hadacek and Rusty Hadacek.

Mrs. Roger Kopacek, organist, accompanied the church choir. Ushers were Leonard Rayhons and Leo Wellik.

Casket bearers were David Grabner, Terry Fruechte, Jerry Tlach, Ray Tlach, Marvin Rayhons and Greg Falada.

Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Duncan. Visitation, a scriptural wake service and Catholic Workman's rosary were all held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel In Garner.

Edward John Wellik, the son of John and Anna (Krall) Wellik, was born August 21, 1907 on the family farm east of Duncan. After attending the rural schools of Garfield Township, he farmed with his parents.

November 13, 1934, he married Frances Falada at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They farmed east of Duncan all of their married life.

He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Catholic Workman's Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Wellik of Garner; his sister, Sr. Louis Mary Wellik, O.S.B. of Sacred Heart Monastery at Lisle, IL; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brothers, Mrs. James (Mary) Tlach, Lucy A. Wellik, September 20, 1979, James Wellik at 11 years of age and two brothers in infancy.
